Foreign Language Learners – Be A Tutor!

COVID-19 Response

For current tutors and tutees:

  • We are moving this program online
  • Please check your email regarding how this program will be moving forward
  • If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our coordinators at

Tutors and tutees MUST not participate in face-to-face contact for any reason. We will be mentioning tutoring alternatives in the emails you receive.

Stay safe!

Foreign Language Learners (FLL) matches student volunteer tutors fluent in a foreign language with foreign language students to converse for 2 hours per week.

FLL is ideal for students who already have a basic command of the language and are looking to practice the language in a casual setting. Once you submit your registration, our staff will reach out to you so you can be involved in this program.

Be a Tutor!

This program is closed for registration for the rest of the Spring 2020 Semester.

Please check again at the beginning of the Fall 2020 Semester!

Any UW student fluent in a foreign language, and interested in tutoring a non-native speaker, can be a foreign language tutor. Being a tutor in this program will improve your tutoring skills and cross-cultural communication skills.

After signing up to be a tutor, you will participate in a short tutor training session. After completing the tutor training, you will be matched with a tutee (or tutees) and will receive an email with a room, day, and time assignment, as well as your tutee (tutees) names and contact information.
