Meet Our Staff!

Tess is a graduate student pursuing a masters in French literature. She is looking forward to overseeing the Drop-in and Academic Match programs within GUTS this year. Outside of work and school, she likes shopping, thrifting, decorating, and traveling.

Sruthi is a senior double majoring in Human Development and Family Studies and Psychology. She is very passionate about the importance of children’s education towards creating a more successful society. She hopes to continue her passion towards education through a job as a child psychologist. During her free time, she likes exploring new mystery shows, watching comedy specials, and exploring new spots in Madison.

Rae is a second year MA student in the GWS department. She enjoys helping people to find the ways they learn and perform best. She is looking forward to supporting the study skills and P2P mentor program with GUTS this year.

Karlygash is an international graduate student from Kazakhstan, pursuing a master’s degree in Global Higher Education. As part of GUTS’ diverse team, she is excited to contribute to the growth and popularization of our organization among the students of UW-Madison. She is passionate about learning about new cultures, languages, and people.

Sonya is a Junior studying Spanish Language and Literature with a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language. She hopes to be a Secondary Education Teacher for World Languages. She enjoys working with staff just as excited about language, travel and academia as she is! With GUTS, she manages and maintains a positive office culture for the coordinators to provide quality student lead tutoring services on campus.

Fiona is a senior studying Psychology and Linguistics with a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language. Post-graduation, Fiona hopes to return to Korea to get an advanced degree and become a professional translator. She loves working with GUTS as a way to share her love for languages and connect other students with the resources necessary for them to grow their own passion for languages.

Vivian is a junior studying Sociology and Communication Arts with a certificate in Digital Studies. Her academic passion lies in communication science researches. At GUTS, she especially enjoys helping students find the roles they belong in in language tutoring.

Savannah is a first-year master’s student studying social work. She enjoys swimming, cooking, and taking long walks with her dog Juice.

Hello my name is Kareem Harris, Im currently a junior majoring in Landscape Architecture. I am from Washington DC, and I have a passion for outdoors, working out, American Football and giving back to others. I look forward to working with all of you this upcoming year, and can’t wait to tackle lesson plans together!

Nikki is a student in the Environmental Conservation MS program. She loves food, hiking, traveling, and playing guitar.

Peter Chikaodili Okoro is from Nigeria and a current Masters student in Environmental Conservation at the Nelson Institute at UW-Madison. He loves watching and playing football, traveling and meeting people of different cultures. He is excited to work with each and every one of the staff and tutees/tutors as well as providing the necessary assistance. 

Alyssa is a Sophomore majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in ESL and working towards a Certificate in Education Policy and Disability Rights and Services. She is excited to be a part of the GUTS team as one of the Drop-in Tutoring Program Coordinators. Outside of school and work life in her free time she enjoys listening to music and spending time with family and friends.

Saket is sophomore majoring in Computer Science. He is one of our Study Skills Coordinator. Some of his hobbies include Soccer, Pool, reading etc.

Hi, my name is Brynne and I am currently a junior studying Genetics and Genomics.  If you could use some assistance in study skills – be it time management, motivation, procrastination, or anything else – I would be happy to give you some advice!  Please schedule an appointment so we can work together on any skills you could use some assistance on.  I look forward to working with you!

Abdullah works as a Study and Learning Skills Specialist at McBurney Resource Center and GUTS. They are a Senior majoring in Psychology, pursuing a Ph.D. after graduation. On campus, they work as a research assistant under the psychology and psychiatry departments. In their free time, they enjoy watching drag shows and voguing.

Mckenna is a sophomore studying English. She is looking forward to managing the Academic Match Program this year and getting to know all the tutors and tutees! Some of Mckenna’s favorite things include books and sushi.

Colin is a sophomore studying Neurobiology. He is one of our Academic Match program coordinators. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music and being outside.

Preston is a graduate student in the Master of Science in Financial Economics program. He graduated from Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska with a triple major in Economics, Environmental Science, and Medical Mathematics. He is excited to help those with disabilities improve their study habits using many of the skills and techniques he picked up during his undergraduate experience. Outside school, he enjoys spending time with his pet bunny, Midori, playing video games, and investing in the markets.
