Why choose drop-in tutoring over small groups?
Drop-in tutoring is a great option for students who want help in their course but can’t make a weekly commitment, or who want tutoring but don’t think they’ll need help every week.
What should I expect when I attend drop-in tutoring? How should I prepare?
Drop-in tutoring is a casual and informal tutoring experience. You can stop by whenever you need help with an assignment, tips on studying for a test, or to simply ask a question.
To make the most of your drop-in tutoring time, plan to review your notes from lectures/labs/discussions and any readings or assignments you would like to discuss. Sharing these materials with your tutor is also very helpful, some tutors are directly connected with your professor or TA and others are not.
The course I need help with isn’t on the drop-in schedule. What can I do?
If the course you need tutoring in isn’t on our schedule, you can try:
- Visiting drop-in tutoring for a similar course, as the tutor may be able to help you anyway
- Looking into our small group tutoring option
- Exploring tutoring options at other learning centers across campus
Who can I contact with questions?
Please email any questions to guts-am@rso.wisc.edu and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
