The Conversational English program provides a small group environment for UW-Madison students to work on English communication skills. Conversation English tutoring groups typically consist of 5 to 8 students meeting weekly with a peer tutor.
Registration opens on the first day of classes each spring and fall semester, and groups fill on a first come, first served basis.

What are the expectations and time commitment of joining a Conversational English group?
Conversational English groups require a commitment of 1 to 2 hours per week for 10 to 12 weeks of the semester.
All students who join a group sign a Tutee Contract that includes consistently attending sessions, actively participating, and respectfully engaging with your tutor and peers.

Yes! You can check out the International Student Services’ Global Cafe program or the PEACE program.
