One-on-one study skills appointments are a great way to identify and problem-solve concerns in areas like concentration and focus, exam preparation, note-taking, study methods, time management, and test-taking strategies. 

Study Skills appointments do not provide course-specific tutoring. If you’re looking for tutoring, check out small group or drop-in tutoring!

What is a study skills appointment like?

Study skills appointments take place either in-person at the GUTS office or virtually on Zoom and are typically 30-45 minutes in length. Students can expect a personalized meeting about study strategies, a place to ask questions and reflect on current habits, and the opportunity to work through any concerns in a supportive setting. Follow up appointments are available and encouraged!

How can I prepare for an appointment?

Before your appointment, reflect on the specific challenges you’re facing. For instance, if you find it hard to stay focused while studying, consider what distractions affect you most. Be ready to talk about your current study habits and what has or hasn’t worked so far. For example, do you prefer studying in short, frequent sessions or longer, less frequent ones?
