Welcome to tutoring at GUTS! This is a great place to start when looking for tutoring on campus. All the tutoring programs GUTS provides are free and available to all UW-Madison students.

Seeking tutoring support early and often is important, whether you have a good handle on course material or are still working to understand it. Tutoring is for every student! Even tutors benefit from tutoring—over 80% of UW–Madison tutors have worked with a tutor themselves.

What kind of tutoring and study support does GUTS provide?

Small Group Tutoring: Offers a supportive and consistent learning environment for ongoing help in science and social science courses. Designed for those who thrive with routine, these 1 to 2 hour weekly sessions take place at the same time and location, making it easier to stay on track throughout the semester. It’s a great option for students who enjoy learning collaboratively, want to build connections with classmates, and benefit from working closely with a dedicated tutor.

Drop-in Tutoring: Available for courses in Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, and Sociology. With drop-in tutoring, you can stop in during scheduled hours to receive help on homework, study for an exam, or ask questions. No weekly commitment needed!

Conversational English Groups: Provide a small group environment for UW-Madison students to work on English communication skills by meeting weekly with a peer tutor.

Individual Study Skills Appointments: Help students identify and problem-solve concerns in areas like concentration and focus, memorization, exam preparation, note-taking, study methods, time management, and test-taking strategies.

Study Skills Workshops: Available throughout the semester and focus on a specific topic like maximizing productivity or different note-taking strategies.
