The Drop-In (DI) program provides immediate, short-term assistance with popular subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Math, Biology and foreign languages. This is a great program for students who want help but can’t make a weekly commitment, or who want a tutor but don’t think they’ll need help every week.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect when attending a Drop-In Tutoring session?
– Drop-In tutoring is a super low stacks, casual, and informal tutoring experience. You can stop by whenever you feel you need help with an assignment, studying for a test, or to simply just ask a question. It’s designed for students who want help, but can’t/don’t need to make a weekly commitment!
I want to receive Drop-In Tutoring but I don’t know where to go?
– Drop-In tutoring takes place at three on campus locations, College Library on the first floor in the main atrium in the back right corner, Steenbock Library on the main floor directly in front of the main entrance, and in the Multicultural Student Center and Black Cultural Center on the 2nd floor of the Red Gym. We also provide Drop-In tutoring virtually on zoom!
I want to receive Drop-In tutoring but the course I’m looking to receive tutoring in isn’t on the schedule, what should I do?
– If the course you need tutoring in isn’t on our schedule we can provide you a few alternative options. Visit one of our other tutors in a similar course, as they may be able to help you. Look into some of our other GUTS programs, and see if they could provide you with the assistance you need. Lastly, we recommend checking out some of the other UW learning centers on campus!

Be A Tutor
I want to be a tutor but I don’t know if I’m qualified?
– We look for tutors who’ve received an AB or higher in a course, and who feel they can provide immediate, short-term assistance to our tutees. Our program is very informal, so as long as you feel you have a good grasp on course content you are most definitely qualified to be a DI tutor.
Would I get paid if I am a Drop-In Tutor?
– Our Drop-In Program is completely volunteer based and follows one of our mottos, Free
For Students By Students.
What if I can’t make it to one of my tutoring sessions?
– Our absence policy is rather simple. We ask that you notify us at least 24 hours before your scheduled session, and we will alter our schedule accordingly to let tutees know of your absence.
